I was wondering; could you train a foal? I found him; and he eats this formula; but I was wondering if it is possible to train him to be a western pleasure/trail horse? Or is it a problem because he's just a colt?

I can do that, when would you like me to start? A colt is not a problem. Would you need me to groom and feed also?

Could you please start today? I can groom and feed him myself; you don't have to worry about that. Thanks!

I go get Prince. *Hello prince! I'll be your trainer! Wow are you cute!* I take him out and hook him up to a lunge line. I grab the lunge whip and tie a plastic bag onto the end. I get him into a stedy trot. After a while I take him into a slow canter. I swing the lung ling close to him until he doesn't frighten from the bag. *GREAT! One step closer to being a trail horse! Now all we have to do is slow down some gaits and you'll be even closer to being a great pleasure horse!* I say patting Prince's neck. I lead him back in and unhook him and put him back in his stall.

I come into Prince's stall and stroke his nose. "How do you like your training, Prince? Is it fun?" I drop a peck on his nose and give him breakfast. "That good, hon?" I ask. I get out his grooming supplies and give him a good grooming. "Now that you're being trained I can't spend as much time with you! Sorry, I have to go, hon! Bye!"

"Hi, Prince boy" I exclaim to him. "How's your training goin'? I wonder if Breezy will let me watch this session. That'd be fun! I have nothing better to do, anyways." I give Prince his formula, and while he's eating, I start to groom him. He loves the currycomb, and is cooperative with the hoof-pick. "OK, hon, I gotta go. Hopefully I'll be back to watch you! Bye sweety!"

*Hello Prince!* I get him out of his stall and hook him up to a lead rope. *Today we're going to work on some more trail activites!* I lead him out to a trail with obsticals set up. *Here we go! Lets see how you do!* I lead him down the trail a ways and we get to a creek. I try to lead him over it and he stutters a couple times. I finally get his first foot in the water. He realizes it's not that bad and walks calmly across it. *Ata boy* We walk a little more and I start trotting with him for 5 minutes. After that we get to a log. *Okay, now I don't want you to jump over it, but to just do a bunny hop over it.* He does more of a leap,,,not really a jump but still not a bunny hop. *Close, we'll work on that more later.* We get a little more down the trail and a snake slithers across the path. Prince FREAKS out! *OKAY! NOW WE'RE GETTIN SOMEWHERE!*:-D *I finally know your weak point! Moving objects!* I lead him back to the barn and unhook him and put him back in his stall.

Wow! It's a windy day today! I say getting Prince hooked up to a lead rope. *Now we will have some trees to work with!* I lead him outside to one of the most "treeful" trails and walk him through. A big gust of wind comes and the trees blow. I stop him and calm him down. I can feel that he's nervous. After about an hour or so of that he finally gets used to the trees. *Good job.* I take him back and put him away.

"Hey, Princey boy!" I call out to Prince as I walk up too him. "Are you enjoying your training break, Midnight?" I ask him. "I hope you're not being too uncooperative!" I grin and give him his breakfast along with a carrot and half of an apple. I then groom him and walk him up and down the aisle, just making sure that no fluid builds up in his legs. "Ok, Mid, I have to go. Bye!"
