I lead in a totally frightend blue roan stallion that is VERY skittish. i attempt to get him into a stall and finally he walks in. I take off the halter, walk out and sigh while he is banging against the walls and whinning like crazy. i say shhhhhhhhh and finally he calms down. and i just remebered to take him to the vet.

walks back into the stable with cobalt still munching on hay. i wait for him to finish and then i give him the three scoops of sweet feed. He finishes that and i walk into the stall with a halter. he shies at it. i just rub the halter on his neck and some of his head. then he lets me put it on him. i clip on a lead rope and lead him out to a small corral. then i walk back in with the muck bucket and clean out his stall and refill the water bucket and go out to get him. once again he wont let me put the halter on so i rub it on his neck and head again and he lets me. i tie him up and he suprisingly stands still. so i imagine he had an owner at some point of his life. i groom him with a stiff brush to get all the mud off of him and i groom out his mane and tail and feet. then i put the stable blanket on him and put him back in the stall. Then i put some surpass on his cut which is getting amazingly better. also he put on a little weight. Bye Cobalt i say as i pet him and close the door.

Let's see it is time to re-evaluate how long cobalts stay will last. He is really looking great!!! He has put on some weight and and is getting more lively. I would say he will be here for another week. You can start letting him out in the pasture during the day for a few hours at a time and you can also start lunging him. He is in good health you don't need to worry about hurting him on the lung line. You can start riding him in 5 days.

Well, I had originally thought that cobalt would go home today but i would like to see how he is with you riding him first. Why don't you tack him up and give him a bit of a work out and we'll go from there! Hi weight has definatly improved. I also want to see how that cut affects his movement with a rider on him, It looks to be haealing but you may want to take him to the vet sometime today to just get him all check out see how his leg is doing so we can get a better idea of his progress. Please post the vets response to his check up here (even though you are the vet).

Cobalt isnt trained to ride but i will start once he is ready. His cut has amazingly improved and should be all cleared in a few weeks. I dont really got time today to feed him so i give him his hay and feed and water and run out of the barn.

Guess what boy! today begins your training! yipee! I give him his feed and water and hay and wait for him to finish. Then i lead him out and tie him in the cross ties and brush him up real good. then i put him on a lead rope. I dont know how you'll deal with this cobalt. Ill put on the english saddle today and hopefully you wont wreck it. i put the pad on his back and he's fine with it so i go get the saddle and put it on and he moves over to the side. I quickly grap the girth and attach it so it wont fall off and I knew it! he goes nuts but i still am able to hang on to the lead. RELAX COBALT ITS JUST A STINKIN SADDLE! he finally finishes his commotion ane he lets me make it tighter and he only does a few bucks this time. its ok boy its not gonna hurt you. I clip on the lunge line and lunge him with the saddle on and he does fine. I look at his leg while he's trotting and he is only limping a little from the scab. dont worry boy that will be gone in a little bit. I take off the saddle and put him out into the pasture and i clean out his stall and an hour later i put him back in his stall. Lets hope we have a better get go tommorrow and i leave

Hi Cobalt! Lets have a better start today shall we? i put on his halter, tie him up and groom him. I put some cream on his cut and is almost invisible! When im done, I clip him on a lead and I go get the english again and let him sniff it. First i put on the pad, then i gently set the saddle on his back and i quickly tighten the girth and he only goes crazy for about 10 seconds or so. Then, i tighten it more and he doesnt move. GOOD BOY! Then i tighten it all the way and he doesnt mind. Then I go get the bridle. I warm up the bit and open his mouth and slide it in and tighten the throat latch and he throws his head menacingly and luckily he doesnt hit any thing. So finally he starts playing with the bit a little so i kinda jiggle the reins a little and he backs up. Here i am with my mouth wide open suprised he knows that. COBALT, HOW! WHO? WHY! So now comes the big test. I lead him over to the mounting block and i lightly spring onto his back. He goes bolting around the arena> i pull back and he slows down! OMG COBALT. Did you study riding while i was gone or soemthing? I keep him down to a walk but knowing him he wants to go faster. i pull back and he stops dead. holy cobalt. you are gonna be a push button horse arent you? I ride him around a bit more at a walk. I dismount and lead him back to his stall, untack him, and put him out to pasture. I clean his stall and feed and water him and bring him back in. You did a great job Cobalt. I am so suprised you knew some commands! Bye Boy I pat him and leave
