I gently lead Gypsy into his stall at the clinic, and let him look around. He looks at me expectantly, and I laugh, and pull out the peppermint that I had had in my pocket. I hold it out to him, and he eats it right from my hand. "C'mon boy," I say, "Let's go for a walk." I take him out of his stall again, and walk him for a half-hour. It passed fine, nothing bad happened. No miracles ouccured, but I knew that they wouldn't. I led him back into his stall and gave him his breakfast with the bute. He seemed to like the bute, and looked at me, asking for more, but I didn't want him to get sick. After he finished with his food, I gave him a carefull grooming, and said, "Bye honey, I'll see you later." I walked out of the barn, looking over my shoulder at the whicker he gave.

(ahh! I'm so sorry, everybody! I've been taking care of Gypsy in the barn! Soooo sorry!) I walk into Gypsy's stall; being careful not to scare him. I know that he could rear or buck, and hurt his rear leg even more. Smiling, I think of how much better he is, though, and I rub my arm where he nipped at me because he didn't think he'd been walking long enough. I took that as a sign of near recovory! Sadly, though, I think he will be lame permenantly. My thoughts are intterupted by an impatiant neigh from Gyps, so I laugh and give him his food and bute. I re-fill his water bucket and hay thingy, let him eat, and take him out for a walk. We have been walking for longer and longer amounts of time, and we are up too an hour now. After the walk, we go back to his stall, and I give him a nice long grooming. Finally, I give him a pat and leave him happily munching on his hay.

"Hi, my Gypsy!" I say, stroking the soft spot on his nose. He gently bumped me, and I kissed him. He snorted back, as if laughing at me for being so sentimental. I laugh and go into his stall. I touch his lame leg very lightly. It was painful to the touch when I got him, and I prepare myself in case I accidentaly hurt him. I let out my pent-up breath when he does not even seem to notice the touch. I smile and stand up. I go over him with the curry comb, and take him out for a 1-hour-10-minute walk. He is full of high spirits, and I have a hard time keeping him from galloping away. We get back to the stall, and I scold him. Right afterwards I give him a hug and tell him how wonderful he is. I give him a good breakfast, and I am about to give him his bute when I realize that I used the last tablets yesterday! I hope that it means he doesn't need anymore bute. He looks at me, then sniffs the bottle, looking for the bute. I laugh, and say, "No more bute, Gypsy! But, you MAY have this!" I hand him a sugar cube, and he likes it just as much. I groom him again, a good long one, paying special attention to his tangled tail. He loves it! I finally wove some red ribbons into his mane, and I give him one last peppermint. I leave his stall happily, not for leaving him, but for him seeming so much better.

I quickly kiss Gypsy, and say, "Sorrry, boy, but I can't stay long." I groom him quickly, give him food, medicine, and water, and leave.

I walk into Gypsy's stall, still crying from the episode with Lark. I remember the promise I made Prince, however, and wipe my tears away. I give him a watery smile, and he huffs out a breath. He prances around a bit, and it seems not to hurt him at all! I tell him, "I'm gonna take you to the vet and see if you're all better!. I take him out for a walk, and let him trot for about five minutes. He wanted to keep trotting, but I hold firm. We come back after an hour, and I groom him and feed him. He looks happy, and I go to see Sandy and Windstorm.

"Did you have a nice time at the hotel, Prince?" I ask Gypsy. He seems so much better! I walk him just a bit; being careful not to over-exert him. When we come back in I give him the bute and breakfast. I also give him a quick grooming. "Sorry I can't stay long, sweet honey boy! Bye!"

"Hey, prince boy!" I call out as I walk down the aisle. "How's your leg today?" I let myself into Prince's stall. He is prancing around with his high spirits! I quickly run a currycomb over him and take him for a walk. When we come back, I feed him and give him a good grooming. "That's a good boy!" I tell him. "awww. Such a honey." I give him a hug and leave the clinic.
