One week training session with 1 session per day
I would like you to train Dakota in jumping. I will be able to groom and feed him so you won't have to do that.

I go in and get Dakota. *Hey there! I'll be your trainer! I hear you're going to be trained in jumping! Hope you're excited!* I take him and cross tie him and tack him up. *Time to get started!* I lead him into the arena and hook him up to the longe line. I set up some poles on the ground in a big circle. I go back and grab onto the longe line. I get him into a speedy trot over the poles. He walks around them sometimes but then I get him to go over them. I get him into a canter over the poles. I stop the longing and mount him. I get him into a slow gallop that's good for jumping. *WOW! You learn fast!* I dismount and lead him back into the barn and untack. *Good job today!*

I get Dakota all tacked up. *Okay...lets see how you do really jumping.* I lead him to the arena and mount where some short jumps are set up. I get him into the slow gallop and anticipate when we reach the first jump. It is really short. CLEARED! *WOW! GOOD BOY!* We get to the next jump. I'm getting anxious and a little nervous. It is only a bit bigger. He clears it but not with much room. *That's okay, we can work on that.* Now I am sure he won't do the next jump. I was just about to stop him when we get there. He throws me off the front of the saddle. I land on my side. Luckily nothing is broken, just bruised up pretty badly. *That's okay boy, it's not your fault. You did great on the little jumps,,we will have to do a few more days worth of training to get to the higher ones. Good job today tho!* I lead him back and untack and put him away.

I hook dakota up to a longe line and walk him out the arena where some big jumps are set up. *Here we go* I get him into a slow gallop and for a while and then send him out to some small jumps where he does great. Then I lead him out to the bigger jumps. He stops a few times and then he finally makes the smallest of the big jumps. *Okay, we'll stop on a good note!* I lead him back in to his stall. *Great job! You're getting close!*
