I drive my trailer up to the barn and make a chute so that Sky can run straight from the trailer to her stall. When it is postioned right, I open the trailer door. Sky screams angerily and charges into the stall. As soon as she is in, I pull the chute out and close the stall door. Sky rears and kicks the stall wall angerily. She screams.

I bring Sky a flake of hay and toss it in to her stall. She charges the door and tries to rear. I decide that when she is done eating, I will take her out and exercise her. That may be a dumb idea but I have to gain her trust somehow. I go get crossties and I place them on her stall hook. I wait until she is done eating.

I hook up the crossties and grab a lead rope and halter. I near her stall and she gets angery and kicks the wall. I open the door slowly and she stands there. We are in an area that is closed off so if she runs, she won't go anywhere. I walk towards her so she can sniff the halter. She snorts loudly and reachs out to sniff it. I have a treat in my hand and she takes it but then quickly shies and walks away from me. I stand in the center of the stall with another treat. She walks towards me and grabs the treat but then shies again. The third treat, she doesn't shie and stands there waiting for more. I slowly lift the halter towards her. She flicks her ears and snorts. I give her a treat for letting me have it that close to her. Then I slowly slip the halter over her ears and she flings her head up and throws the halter. I pick up the halter and start to near her again. Training had to end on a good note. She lets her ears slip into it and then I give her a treat and take it off. I walk out of the stall and leave the door open. She flies out and whinnies loudly. Just as I thought she would. She trots around the inclosed area. As she runs around the little area, I clean out her stall. I give her fresh water and a new flake of hay. She sees the hay and runs towards the stall to protect her food. She snorts loudly and pins her ears back at me as I close th stall door. I know we made progress. I will do a little more later.
